Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between tracking chimpanzees and gorillas?

Chimpanzees live primarily in the forest canopy and move quickly, making the trek fast-paced and vocal. Gorillas are ground-dwelling and move slower, resulting in a more stationary observation hour.

What is the minimum age for primate tracking in Uganda?

The minimum age for both gorilla and chimpanzee tracking in Uganda is 15 years old.

What is Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary?

It is a community-run swamp sanctuary adjacent to Kibale, famous for harboring 8 distinct monkey species, rare birds, and supporting community development.

How close can I get to the chimpanzees?

The official conservation distance is 8 meters. Like gorillas, they are habituated to human presence and often walk right past you along the forest trails.

Are the drives tiring on a 7-day tour?

This itinerary spaces out the driving distances with overnight stops, ensuring you never spend a full day on the road without activities.
